My interest in Kinesiology began in 1970, and a mere 30 years later became a part of my career change in 2001. Up until 2001 my background had been in computer programming and aerospace.

In 2003 during a period of extensive learning I, personally, began experiencing peri-menopause. I had heard about the night sweats and hot flashes but until you go through it, you do not fully appreciate how uncomfortable it is. I was having a hot flash every 45 minutes and my sleep cycle was all over the place. My memory was fading and my concentration was poor.

I began searching for a safe, effective all natural approach to end my suffering: enter Suzanne Somers. I read her books with great interest and began making diet changes and found it really made some difference. I read more and sought out the doctors that she listed in her book. Many of those doctors were already overwhelmed by the vast numbers of women just like me, and were not accepting any new clients. I did not give up, and I finally found a pharmacy that did Saliva testing. It was great, but only for a short period of time. It was pretty clear to me that they did not know what they were doing. I consulted doctor after doctor and even drove up to the Jennifer Berman Clinic in Los Angeles to see if they could get it right. But no, they were just as messed up as the others. I spent a fortune seeking medical help and I now refer to it as "paid on the job training".

I listened to and tried everything each doctor told me to do. Bio-identical creams, capsules, drops and supplements, diets, etc. Some made improvements and others were a complete waste of time and money. They were all still missing the boat. In 2008 I heard about some courses that were being offered to train Practitioners to provide Saliva and Urine testing for Cortisol, DHEA and Hormone levels. These classes gave me the key to finding the underlying causes; getting at the clinical correlation and unlocking the potential to RESTORE functionality to the Adrenals, not just provide a band-aid to a host of symptoms. Finally, this put the power in my own hands! No more guessing and self treating. We have these inexpensive, easy to use, in-home testing kits that allow us to be more accurate and give the body what it's asking for to repair and rebuild. I can now pass this experience on to others and help you find the underlying issues that led to the break down of your health and well-being. Invest In Your Health and Love The Way You Feel!

I like the approach your office takes with regards to health. It's straight forward, and it's all natural. Using the body to tell what it needs, most problems are eliminated before they become real trouble. Before I was spending lots of money on what I thought were quality vitamins and supplements and the ones I thought I needed. This takes the guess work out of it and I get a custom designed supplement plan using whole food and whole food supplements. LB, San Clemente, CA

Your response inspired me to look up "protein and depression". Interesting. There is a connection. Yesterday, the day after my 12 ounce meat marathon that I had to do for my urine testing, I was productive as never before. I did household tasks that I've left undone for about 2 years. This morning I organized my "junk drawer" instead of looking at it thinking "I should organize this.... someday." At one point yesterday, as I was whipping through some tasks, I thought "this is how normal people feel". Could there be a link with the protein? HD, San Diego, CA

It does take time and commitment but it's worth it. I feel better that I have in years. My memory has improved and it was going down hill fast. My energy levels are so much better. I was dragging and self medicating with coffee in the afternoons. No more need for that. LC, Houston, TX

I used to be on several prescription medicines. I was sure the side effects were bad for me but didn't know what else to do. Since I have been taking the whole food supplements I can't believe the changes that have been made to my system and outlook. I am no longer taking prescription medicine and yet I seem to be improving. I would highly recommend this practice and office to anyone. JB, Poway, CA

I had read that a side-affect of depleted adrenals was food cravings, and that restoring the adrenals often led to weight loss. I have noticed that I don't get that hungry anymore, and especially when I'm sugar free. I have still been eating like a cow (actually I'm tapering down now) because I was still operating in habit mode. I'm starting to honor my body and pay more attention to what it's asking me for. HD, San Diego, CA

I'm on a pretty good diet now...I'm hypoglycemic, allergic to wheat and recently figured out I'm lactose intolerant...so no wheat, dairy or simple sugars for me. And I struggle with Candida so as long as I avoid sugar, I control the sugar cravings. I eat a high protein, low carb diet. I know I need to increase my fruits and veggies but I'm doing better than the majority of the population ;-) I can always improve but I think that I'm doing well and have figured out what foods are like poison to me and will avoid them since feeling like crap just isn't worth it. MK, Redmond, WA

I had two days of killer PMS and sunk back to where I was for two years. It was "nice"??? to have a taste of where I came from so I can appreciate my new vibrancy. I had been sugar-free for 3 1/2 days and I blasted out of the PMS with 6 cookies, a piece of pumpkin pie and fruit cake!! Now that my adrenals are up to speed the sugar actually makes a difference in terms of serotonin production. I'm back now just finished 48 hours of sugar free. HD, San Diego, CA

Best massages I've ever had! On top of that, Denise is a caring, compassionate and professional individual who deserves a lot of credit for building a fine, reputable center.

Denise is an outstanding massage therapist!

Denise provides a massage that is out of this world! Afterward, my feeling of complete relaxation and calm is unbelievable. She and the others at her office are the best!

Denise is the best massage therapist I've ever been to not only for her technique but because she listens to your needs!

Best massage I've ever had!

The whole crew at N4H are remarkable. They have unique skills that compliment each other perfectly. I learned a great deal from the coaching i attended there. My life is better because of it

Denise is the best!!! She is very calming, and her deep tissue massages are fantastic. She is very knowledgeable, and continues her education to better treat her patients. She is multi-faceted, and goes the extra mile. She thinks of you even when you're not physically in front of her. She is very compassionate, and takes the time necessary to explore every aspect of your health. I wish she lived next door!!

In terms of getting a massage, Denise is excellent. She is strong and has great technique. More than that, Denise was instrumental in helping me heal from muscle spams that were brought on by a car accident. Between my first and second visit, she hit the books and deepened her knowledge about how to best treat the muscles that were stressed and damaged in my torqued hip/thighs. She spoke to me intelligently about what she was doing it and why. I value Denise not only for her technique, but also for the thought and wisdom she "brings to the table". She also provided me with education on nutrition and body movement, posture and some exercise moves. Not for the Ladies that want a light little rub down between shopping sprees. Hey, I don't know about that. I've never had a gentle massage from her because my needs have been for therapuetic massage, not just to relax. She could be great at that too. Denise gives you her best.

I have been going to Denise Rolen for massages for many years. She is the best out of all the others I tried over the years. That's why I'm still there and will be for a long - long time.

I have been receiving massage and other bodywork from Denise at Network for Health for over six years and wouldn't go anyplace else! Denise has an amazing ability to pinpoint the exact areas that need work and provide relief using many different modalities. She is professional and compassionate and one leaves the center with a profound sense of relaxation and wellbeing.

Denise is amazing! I live in Portland, OR and have not found anyone like her up here! I HAVE to see her every time I am in San Diego..She has helped me in so many ways. The only way she could be better is if she trained someone up here!:)

Denise and the technicians working with her are all thoroughly professional and amiable. I only wish i could visit them more often!

The best set of hands in San Diego! You will be compelled to go back.

Awesome!

I have been a client of yours since 2002 and over that time I have tried other therapists but I always come back to you. You are the best!

I love the treatments I receive from you. You are always using some new or different techinique to affect a positive change. It goes deeper than just a massage or bodywork, I feel a healing taking place.

I bought a gift certificate for my wife from you years ago. Now our whole family comes to you. We all come through out the year but every special occasion we buy gift certificates for each other. We are always happy to receive the gift. It's great every time I have a session it reenforces the value of human touch. I feel the knots melt away under your pressure.

I just love using the new infra red sauna. It reminds me of the way it felt taking a nap in kindergarten. All warm, safe and cozy.

The atmosphere you have created at the Rancho Bernardo location is exceptional. Every time I walk in the door I feel a wave of serenity wash over me.

The most common sentence I hear from 99% of every one I have given a massage to is: "that was the best massage I ever had". And of course they follow up by sending their friends and family to see me. That is truly the most sincere form of flattery.

On occasion, I hear people say "I don't get massages because I had one once and they hurt me". What a crime, that should be punishable. It is very important to me that no one ever experiences physical injury as a result of a massage.

I am working with one of my regular clients right now that was hurt by another therapist. It's taking me several weeks to get them out of the pain and spasm that an over zealous therapist caused. Now I only say this to educate you. It is VERY important for you to communicate to the therapist that is working on you if you have discomfort. Do not try and grit your teeth and bear through it. That is not necessary. Sure, there is some of that "it hurts so good pain" but that is where you draw the line. I tell my clients that on a scale of 1 -10 and 10 being severe; if the pain is an "8" tell me to back off. If it is a 6 or 7 then breathe with it and we'll be accomplishing some really good bodywork and muscle release.

I have several clients that fall asleep often and they tell me that the sleep they get while on the table is the best! It's as if they had been sleeping for 10 hours while I assure them it was only 10 or 15 minutes. I hate it when I have to wake them up to turn them over!!!

I have many clients that suffer from the neck/shoulders/headache tension that is very common what with the stress, posture and computer age we live in. They rave about my techniques and the relief they get from my bodywork. It is very rewarding to be able to help people in pain. While I am not a Doctor or a Physical Therapist I offer tips and hints to improve their lifestyle such as what stretches might be best for the area. I always include a caution to have an examination by a Chiropractor in order to make sure there is no structural cause contributing to their condition.
