Seated meditation - the most common practice of meditation is seated. the details of the technique are not as important as the quality of your meditation. Some people like to sit on a small pillow on the floor with legs crossed in a lotus position, feet overlapping the thighs. Others sit in half lotus or even in a simple cross-legged position. Keep your back straight without extreme, head should point straight ahead with eyes soft. Relax your face, shoulders and arms. Let your hands rest in your laps, palms up, with one hand resting in the other, thumbs touching. Allow your breathing to be relaxed and let go of any tensions.

Sit with your mind clear. As a thought comes to mind, be aware of it but then return to a clear mind. keep returning to a clear mind and your thoughts will slow down and stop. Remain still and enjoy the peace of no thoughts and a clear mind.

Work meditation - Set a side a short period of time during your work day to practice "meditative" effort on your work activities. You will benefit by bringing all the effects of mediation to your work place. Before you start, sit for a couple of minutes to gather yourself in preparation.

Focus your attention, clear your mind of outside influences as much as you can and bring yourself in to the moment. If you are sitting at a desk, notice what you feel as you sit before your work. If you work with tools, become aware of the tool, how does it feel in your hand? If you work with computers, let your fingers rest gently on the keyboard and pay attention before you begin.

Keep focused on your task but try not to interfere. Allow yourself to work efficiently, easily, aware that if your mind wanders you will bring it back gently. When you are finished, stop and clear your mind and relax. Begin this in small amounts of time and extend it every time you practice. The benefits will amaze you, they did me.
